Myanmar - Spring 2001

Here are all of the cities we visited in Myanmar.
It's an immense country and many of it is off limits to foreigners.
We saw as much as we could squeeze into 3 weeks.

Click on the thumbnail to bring up more photos from the towns.

Perhaps you would enjoy a peek at the local currency?
Or some catchy (slightly political) slogans?

YANGON
Yangon (formerly Rangoon), is home to one of the largest temple complexes in south-east Asia, Shwedegon Paya. You're not allowed to wear shoes inside the complex. Which is unfortunate only because a lot of the ground is covered in dark marble, which tends to get VERY warm in the blazing sunshine, ouch!
BAGO
Monks on parade in the sleepy little town of Bago.
KYAIKTYO
TAUNGOO
INLE LAKE & NGUANGSWEH
MT. POPA
PINDAYA
MANDALAY
PYIN U LWIN
AYEYARWADY RIVER
BAGAN
NGAPALI BEACH
